6. Can the iStreamBOX be used on multiple TV’s?

The iStreamBOX can run one TV at a time. However due to its small size and ease of hooking it up it can be moved from TV to TV very easily.

Tip – If you connect an extra HDMI cord to your second TV you will only need to transfer the iStreamBOX and the power cable to your second TV. This will save you the trouble of moving the HDMI cable each time you want to switch TV’s.

7. Is streaming TV Shows and Movies from the internet illegal?

No. The laws state that Downloading, Possessing, distributing or profiting from copywrited material is illegal. When you are streaming a TV Show or movie you are not downloading it and are never in possesion of it. Once the TV Show or Movie is done streaming all of the data from that stream is gone from your unit.

8. Can Multiple iStreamBOX be used in one household on one internet connection?

Yes, Multiple iStreamBOX can be used at one time off of the same internet connection. Please note that multiple iStreamBOX running at the same time will demand a faster internet connection. We recommend 10 Mbps per unit. So for 2 units we would recommend a 20 Mbps internet connection.

9. Checking Internet Speed / Running a Speed Test

As your iStreamBOX relies on your internet connection to stream video content, it is very important that you have a reliable and fast internet connection.

Here is how to check and see how much internet is getting to your iStreamBOX unit.

Install Speedtest app from Google Playstore in Android .Go to all apps, Scroll down until you see the Speedtest app. Click on the speedtest app. Click begin test. Let the test run and see what speeds you are getting.

For optimal streaming you should have over 10,000 Kbps or 10 Mbps Download. Upload speed is not as important as Download speed.

If you are getting less then the recommended speed posted above here are some options.

Move your Wifi router closer to the iStreamBOX unit.
Reset your Internet Modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
Contact your internet provider if you are not getting close to the amount of internet speed that you are paying for.

10. Resetting KODI to original state

To reset KODI settings to their original defaults, please do the following.

Note that this will wipe out ALL customizations you have made since first using KODI, and any downloaded metadata (album covers, film posters, artist info etc) caused by importing your media collection will have to be redownloaded.

Start from the Android homescreen, and bring up the list of all installed applications. Select Settings, and highlight Apps on the left handside (if you can't see an entry for Apps, please click on the far right tab and select the More Settings button). On the right - you may need to scroll down - you should see an entry for KODI - click on it. Now click the button labelled “Clear Data”. Wait until the statistics for space taken have updated, and return to Android’s homescreen.

11. Correct Procedure for Exiting KODI and Turning off Box

A lot of customers ask us why sometimes KODI doesnt start up, or it just displays a black screen. We ask them how they are turning off their XBMC/KODI and Android box at night and are usually told that they simply press the red ‘Power’ button on the remote no matter what the box is doing at the time.

KODI  is like a ‘computer within a computer’. It is its own operating system and thus needs to be shutdown correctly after each use. Think of it like using some software on your PC and then pressing the power button whilst the software is still running. Pretty soon your software isnt going to run very smoothly as it hasn’t had chance to tidy away the files it was using before closing down. Please see below our recommendations for keeping KODI running smoothly.

It is very important that XBMC is exited from in the correct manner. The way to do this is from the KODI home screen, for the older Confluence skin, navigate down to the small ‘Power’ icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and select it. If using the new Aeon interface, scroll along the menu ribbon to the option ‘SHUTDOWN’ or ‘POWER’ and select quit below) A pop up window saying ‘EXIT’ will appear. Choose this to exit back into the Android home screen. This will shut down KODI safely.

Exiting out of KODI in any other way can result in a corrupted configuration. The following are examples of exiting KODI incorrectly:

Pressing the ‘Home’ button on the remote, whilst in KODI to take you back to Android homescreen

Pressing the red power button on the remote to switch off the whole box whilst within XBMC.

Removing the power chord from the back of the box whilst in KODI or whilst in Android (the box must always be powered off using the red power button on remote first, before removing the power chord)

The same can be said for exiting out of android. The red power button on the remote needs to be used to shut the box down, and only once it is on standby can the power chord be removed.

12. Is iStreamBOX Android TV Box Streaming Legal?

A recent EU ruling confirmed that streaming is legal even if the content is copyrighted.

As long as an Internet user is streaming copyrighted content online, Then it’s legal for the user, who isn’t willfully making a copy of said content. If the user only views it directly through a web browser, streaming it from a website that hosts it, he or she is doing nothing wrong.

As long as th media players do not download copy or store media, which would be illegal. They simply facilitate streaming of media content which is legal.

EU Directive Reference

Article 5 of Directive 2001/29/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2001 on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society must be interpreted as meaning that the copies on the user’s computer screen and the copies in the internet ‘cache’ of that computer’s hard disk, made by an end-user in the course of viewing a website, satisfy the conditions that those copies must be temporary, that they must be transient or incidental in nature and that they must constitute an integral and essential part of a technological process, as well as the conditions laid down in Article 5(5) of that directive, and that they may therefore be made without the authorisation of the copyright holders.

13. Are there any extra charges or monthly fees that I would need to pay for?

Absolutely not! All of the content and programs that come preloaded on the iStreamBOX are completely free. We will never ask for monthly fees. Programs Like Netflix and Hulu still require a monthly subscription. All apps in XBMC/KODI & Android  we load in iStreamBOX are always FREE.

14. I get "No Stream Available " in KODI clicking a stream

If you click on a stream source and see “No Stream Available” this means that the file you were trying to view is no longer available from this link. Try clicking on another stream source to view the video content you are trying to watch.

15. What to do if the stream is constantly buffering or freezing?

There are two main reasons for this: 1.The stream that you are trying to connect to do not have enough bandwidth to deliver the stream adequately or 2.Your Internet or Wi-Fi connection is inadequate. The solution to point 1 is to simply stop the stream and select a different one. The solution to point 2 is to either upgrade your internet connection or start using an Ethernet (wired) connection instead of a wireless (Wi-Fi) connection.

16. Do you guarantee the quality of the streams?

No. We cannot guarantee the quality, durability, longevity or integrity of the streams. These streams originate with 3rd party entities and are completely out of our control or influence. Having said that, as long as you have a good quality broadband connection you will always experience a more than satisfactory streams. The vast majority of streams are good to great quality, many are HD quality. If a stream is not adequate or of a poor quality, there are many many more available, it’s just a matter of clicking on them.

21. I have hard time using the Remote that came with iStreamBOX Android unit. What can I do?

The remote controller that comes with your iStreamBOX Android TV Box is designed to perform the basic features, but it is not ideal for navigating the Android operating system or fully utilizing XBMC. We recommend using a  Wired or Wireless keyboard/mouse.

We sell various remote accessories that can be used with iStreamBOX. Please Visit our online store. - See more at: iStreamBOX Remote Accessories

The main model that we recommend using is the i8 Mouse Pad and iStreamBOX VIP Fly Mouse remote. We suggest that you decide what type of USB device or controller that you would prefer using and purchase it. We do not offer support for outside USB devices, but 99% of all USB devices and controllers will work with the iStreamBOX Android unit.

22. Why are my movies buffering so much and why are some of the add-on’s not working correctly?

The AddOns that come pre-programmed on your iStreamBOX Android Unit are just some of our favorites.  Each AddOn is managed and owned by a third party and has no reflection as to how our box performs.  Some of the third party AddOns may experience slow buffering times, less than perfect quality or may go down from time to time.  This is not a perfect system but it does help you save money on cable!  Our biggest recommendation would be to become familiar with XBMC by going to Google and doing some research first.  We will not refund any iStreamBOX units due to the AddOns not performing correctly as there are over 1000 different repositories and AddOns available for your use.  For more information regarding the different repositories or AddOns, please go to Google and search XBMC/KODI or TVAddons.

27. Should I use WIFI or Ethernet cable to connect my iStreamBOX?

In General, a wired (Ethernet or RJ45 Cable) is always best because a direct connection does not suffer from any interference that Wi-Fi connections are subjected to. The speed of a direct cable connection is always faster than a Wi-Fi connection. If your ISP (Internet Service Provider ) have located your broad band router in the same room as your TV then you can connect directly to your iStreamBOX via a cable. If your Broadband router is in another room or even another floor then you can use Wi-Fi .
